If we don’t understand something in school we’re assured that if we think harder, longer, and more frequently about it, understanding will click into place.

We’re taught that most solutions can be found through perseverance and that the path to success is defined by our own resolve.

Often, though, the opportunity for a solution can pass and perseverance might primarily perpetuate the problem.

This can be difficult to recognise.

Letting go can be difficult, and it goes against our conditioning.

Maybe learning to recognise when to leave a problem unsolved is as important a lesson as grit and perseverance.
