All knowledge has a lineage and is reliant on the accuracy of something else.
Everything we know is built on trust.
Trust in the media we consumed.
Trust in what someone else told us.
Trust that the techniques taught were appropriate.
Trust that the tools did what was advertised.
Trust that the foundations were correct.
The same way we put trust in our sources,
Those sources put trust in sources of their own.
And then the same again, and again, and again.
Trust is so ingrained and reinforced that the fragility of our knowledge becomes invisible.
This isn’t just a problem with the media…
It’s the nature of knowledge itself.
Nothing just simply is.
