Services online are free because they’re ad supported or they’re loss leading. But many can be used through paid plans that remove the ads for a price.

That means the people with the most money aren’t seeing ads, while the people with the least money are seeing ads for things they can’t afford.

In between these two extremes we’re susceptible—and we regret the penetration that advertising has on our lives.

But when we advocate for less advertising, or use ad blockers, are we negatively affecting an ecosystem that allows the less financially able to have equal access?
